WELCOME

Welcome to the Worcester Guild of the Catholic Medical Association.
Are you a Catholic doc in Worcester County? Are you looking for Christian fellowship, for some encouragement in your work? Are you interested in learning more about not just being a physician, but being a good Catholic physician?

Have you ever thought about that stethoscope you carry around all day? It is the symbol of our vocation. With it we listen to our patients, to their hearts. And if we listen carefully we will hear the Lord Jesus with that stethoscope.
Come join us and let's listen.

With best wishes in Christ,
The Worcester Guild

FOOD FOR THOUGHT--FROM OUR HOLY FATHER

"While it is true that this country is marked by a genuinely religious spirit, the subtle influence of secularism can nevertheless color the way people allow their faith to influence their behavior. Is it consistent to profess our beliefs in church on Sunday, and then during the week to promote business practices or medical procedures contrary to those beliefs? Is it consistent for practicing Catholics to ignore or exploit the poor and the marginalized, to promote sexual behavior contrary to Catholic moral teaching, or to adopt positions that contradict the right to life of every human being from conception to natural death? Any tendency to treat religion as a private matter must be resisted. Only when their faith permeates every aspect of their lives do Christians become truly open to the transforming power of the Gospel."
---Pope Benedict XVI addressing the bishops of the United States at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, April 16, 2008. FULL TEXT
Did you MISS it? The Divine Mercy Conference, Spirituality, Medicine and Bioethics took place April 29 & 30. It was a great blessing for all of us who could be present.

It's NOT too late for you to share in the blessing. An unedited DVD of the conference is available for $35 (plus P&H) by calling 800-462-7426.

This was the 4th annual Healthcare Professionals for Divine Mercy Conference and was sponsored by the Marians of the Immaculate Conception and organized with great love by the founder of Healthcare Professionals for Divine Mercy, Marie Romagnano. Outstanding presentations included talks by Dr. John Clarke, Director of the Center for Head and Neck Cancer at MGH; Dr. Helen Jackson, a pro-life Ob-Gyn and President of Boston's St. Luke's Guild; Dr. Scot Bateman, Chief of Pediatric Critical Care at UMass Memorial and a member of the Worcester Guild. Fr. Germain Kopaczynski, former Director of Education at the National Catholic Bioethics Center gave a wonderful "Crash Course in Catholic Medical Ethics." Maureen Digan and her husband gave beautiful testimony to the healing power of the Lord. Maureen's case was the first miracle for St. Faustina's beatification. God's grace and mercy was bursting out everywhere during these two days!

Do yourself a favor and get the DVD--or come to next year's conference.
